11 October 2017 – Ninewa Plains – Iraq – A class in session at Al-Taghllubia School for Boys in the Ninewa Plains on the day the school reopened its doors to pupils after being closed for 3 years.
“There was no one here for 3 years after ISIL came,” said Principal Jubrail Ibrahim. “The students went to Erbil, Duhok, Baghdad, Kirkuk. Today is the first day the pupils came back to their school. It’s made us all very happy.” UNDP’s Funding Facility for Stabilization is helping rehabilitate the school.
